![]() ![]() It is imperative to understand the “real” issues at every level. A well-thought-out change must include organizational feedback. Would you fly to the moon without a verified plan for how to return? I would assume that for most of us the answer would be “no”. Some changes lack direction and the explanation of the goals is lost in the process. For change to be successful one must understand these four elements:ġ. Ironically, the power of the ocean does not change but the results of the experience are drastically different. Eventually, you can use the boat to see many different parts of the world. The boat must be constructed with the understanding that the conditions at sea will change. Some days it will be calm, warm and sunny and other days it will be dark, windy and gloomy. A strong boat can float up and down across the top of the waves. It can be an exhilarating experience. On the other hand, you can utilize your intellect and creativity to compete with the will of the ocean. You could spend your days building a boat and filling it with lifesaving tools. Your feet will slip in the soft sand below your feet and ultimately you are going to be overwhelmed. The undertow never gives up and continues to work against you without end. In due course, the water will fill your lungs and you will slowly drown. If a person wants to fight change, they are battling against the currents. Struggling against the flow of transformation is like standing waist high in the ocean. The tide is powerful, and eventually your muscles will tire.
