![]() If you set Roon to do the first pass software decoder for MQA, a regular DAC (like the one in the Cambridge) can handle that and it’s not too far off from what it sounds like with a full decoder. I’d contact Cambridge and ask if the 200M accepts MQA over coax or optical since it’s not clear in the manual. Verifying that the DAC accepts MQA over other than USB can be tricky depending on how much info is on the spec sheet or manual. Problem is many DACs that do MQA only support it via USB, but there are some that accept it over digital coax or optical. The Cambridge streamer has digital outputs so you can use pretty much any external DAC you want, if you choose to do so. Is there any advantage to switching to something else other the CXN + Roon + Qobuz/Tidal from an audio quality perspective? Or should I just stick with what I've setup now? I just want the best sounding digital audio. But I also noticed it doesn't appear to support a wifi connection. Then I came across the Dacmagic 200M that was just released, which supports native MQA decoding. So I subscribed to Roon and Qobuz trials - and I now play music from the Roon app or my computer, and I see that it appears to send fully lossless audio to the CXN depending on which version I choose. Some research showed me that my only real solution was to use Roon and the CXN has a Roon Ready Device. So streaming by the mobile app doesn't do much for me. I now know that the CXN V2 doesn't support native MQA decoding. After steaming music via the mobile app, I realized I had a lot more confusion about what I was trying to accomplish, that better research could have fixed for me. I set it up on my wifi and subscribed to Tidal Hifi. So, I went and I purchased a Cambridge Audio CXN V2. I wanted to introduce the ability to play lossless digital audio on this system.
